Last week, I told you about the holiday stress of packing up, shopping, and planning that I had. This week, I'm trying not to be totally let down that I will likely be snowed in tomorrow, the day I'm supposed to be driving home to start my fabulous 2 week holiday vacation. I don't "do" snow and cold very well. At all. And I don't like anything that keeps me a minute longer from my beloved vacations home.
To be honest with you, I would have hit the road today without thinking twice if it weren't for one thing.....tonight is the last night I'm supposed to hang out with my DC BFF, Shira, who is leaving for a year.
There are VERY few people that I would risk getting stranded in the biggest winter storm our area has seen in recent years and delay my trip to SC by at least a day just to see her one last time. But she's kind of like the Meredith to my Christina and the Lucy to my Ethel. So it's probably the most fitting thing in the world that we would have our last hurrah by trying to survive a winter storm together. Come to think of it, I'm really not THAT surprised that this is happening.
So here begins another adventure...
Which will likely begin along with a million other people at the grocery store. Since I thought I would be leaving, I haven't been to the store in a loooong time. I was trying to get rid of everything I already had. We even cleaned out our fridge last night and it's basically empty. I hope there is some milk, bread, and eggs left. I guess people love to eat french toast when it snows? I've always wondered about that.
Last weekend, some of Shira's friends threw a surprise going away brunch for her. We got her there by telling her we were going to bake cookies. We weren't planning to actually bake cookies, but once we knew how excited she was about said cookies, we had to do it anyway!

I'll keep you posted on our winter wonderland!
I'm going to miss you having Shira. I wish her all the best as she starts this new adventure. She has to come to SC for another visit when she gets back. I'm praying for this weather to ease up so you can get home.
ReplyDeleteI'll believe all the snow when I see it.
ReplyDeleteI'm at home sick today so I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things since we're supposed to be "snowed in" all weekend. Big mistake. There were a million people there!
Anyway, have a great last night with Shira, and best to her on her trip!
Safe travels to you, as well.
I miss you already!!!
